Old? Prude?

In the past I have commented that I didn't care if women shaved their armpit hair or not though I thought dying it was probably a bad idea. Now here I am today kind of eating my words,though I don't think I've ever made any remarks about pubic hair. The Billie razor company launched a campaign telling women to embrace their body hair if they choose,they are calling it Red,White and You Do You. I would be perfectly fine with them not shaving their pubic hair,but the ads feature women in swimsuits that are cut to best show of their pubes to John Q. Public and for some reason that nearly grosses me out...plus what's with a razor company promoting hairy pubes? Reverse psychology?

Top Secret

A few days ago I came across the supposed origin of the idiom 'keep it under your hat'. I found the definition doubtful as it claimed to have come from medieval times when archers kept extra bow strings under their hats to keep them dry. After a little research the real meaning was revealed in all its simplicity. To keep something under your hat is to keep it in your head,as in secret,do not repeat along with several other terms. The phrase wasn't introduced into English until the 19th century which also discredits the bow string story. No matter what the story it is always important to check more than one resource,  the military recommends five sources to verify as fact,which in turn would be useful in eliminating the phrase "fake news".

Coffee & Coffins

Coffee and coffins has a certain macabre ring to it don't you think?  As bizarre as it sounds a Death Awareness Cafe has opened in Bangkok,Thailand. The way it works is after you finish your beverage you are closed in a coffin to reflect on your life,the idea being is that given time to think a person should come to the conclusion that they can't take their life with them and that will make them less greedy,angry and corrupt. If it really works on those particular faults we could certainly use some coffee and coffins in the US,especially in and around DC.
 

The Indian Giver Can of Worms

For the most part Indian Giver is not considered to be politically incorrect as it is more of a slap at white people than Native Americans,however that isn't good enough for some folks who continue looking for a word/words that mean the same thing. It's not an easy task. Some of the words up for approval are:gift revocation,reneger (which opens another can of correctness worms for some),de-gifting,and the also questionable Welcher/Welsher. It seems like the Indians don't really care that much especially when it comes to sports teams having Indian related names. Could it be more of a white person guilt trip? Just another shower thought that made it into print.

Farting Around

A French man has invented a pill that can transform your worst smelling flatulence into scents that are less offensive,or so he claims. He calls his company Lutin Malin (Cunning Imp) the pills are an entirely natural dietary supplement named PilulePet and have been on the market since 2007. They come in a variety of aromas including:Christmas chocolate,May Day lily,St. Valentine's ginger,violet and rose. They retail for around $21 and are also available in powder form for pets. I wonder if he will make them able to color your gas for his next experiment?

Abuse? Neglect? Clueless?

The first of these three separate yet like stories is about a rooster being found hobbled in the toolbox of a pickup when the driver was stopped for reckless driving/DUI in Texas. One would think the police would have also added animal abuse,but they didn't,in fact they released the rooster to the driver's sister the next morning.
The second one involves a bulldog puppy who ate 19 pacifiers and became blocked and sick. I realize the family obviously had children too, hence the pacifiers,but how do 19 pacifiers go missing before you make a connection? Of course the veterinarian didn't realize the problem the first visit and gave the dog medication for acid reflux. The mystery was solved when the dog was x-rayed.
The final story is about a cat who went through a 35 minute washing machine cycle and lived. I can kind of understand how he got into the washer as he was possibly bedded down in the wash. But once the washer was started you would think the cat would want out immediately,if not sooner with the noise/water combination going on. All three animals survived.

No Time!

While the Pacific Coast states are still trying to rid themselves of time changes a Norwegian island wants to do away with time altogether. The 350 residents of Sommaroy have petitioned the parliament to do away with timekeeping. Their campaign states:"Why do we need time and clocks when there is no night?" Actually there are 70 days without any nights and the idea is to boost the residents flexibility by doing away with time. The island's main income is from fishing and tourism and having no time would have little effect on fishing and being a time free zone would be a boon to tourism. There is a railing on a bridge covered with wristwatches to send a clear message to tourists that time is a thing of the past. I'm not sure how this would work when the island had to interact with other places and do things like banking and travel,but they must have thought of all that before getting the petition together...then again maybe they were to tired to think straight because they had no time!
