Tito's Handmade Vodka received an unusual message from a customer saying they were using the vodka to make homemade hand sanitizer, Tito's responded by telling the customer that even though their vodka made tasty sanitizer that the alcohol content was only 40% and the CDC recommends 60% for sanitizing purposes...In another part of the world,a small village in Italy to be more precise,villagers had wine coming from their faucets. A local winery had a high pressure leak from a silo causing the wine to displace the water in the pipes. The locals recognized the Lambrusco from the smell and several of them filled bottles with the wine before the winery made repairs.
 

The Message Is Clear?

Imagine picking up a children's book in a doctor's waiting area to pass the time and discovering what amounts to a kid's version of the Kama Sutra. The book titled "Mummy Laid an Egg!" starts out explaining with pictures and arrows how a penis and vagina fit together and how seeds from the daddy go into the mommy to fertilize the egg,so far so good? Then the pictures turn into clowns depicting sexual positions some of which should probably be labeled,"don't try this at home". I'm not overly prudish but the pictures struck me as inappropriate for the age level the book was trying to reach. Without further ado I will leave you to decide whether to applaud or pan this teaching aid.

Label Lies?

This bit of information leaves me somewhat confused,a team of experts were asked to review labels on condiments to determine which should go in the fridge and which could stay out. Ketchup which clearly states on the label that it should be refrigerated after opening has no need of refrigeration as the natural acidity of the tomatoes and the amount of vinegar prevent bacterial growth. As for other common condiments,mayonnaise does go in the fridge even though it contains vinegar but all mustard can all stay on the shelf. Another surprise one,at least for me,was maple syrup needs to be kept in the fridge. I'm going to keep putting the things I've always put in the fridge in there with the thought in mind that the more goods in the fridge the easier it is on the fridge to operate efficiently.

Lap Cat

Ziggy the cat was so thankful when she was adopted from a London shelter three years ago that she vowed to be the most loving cat in the whole world. That was working fairly well for her until her parents started working from home and were unable to get much work done because of Ziggy's clingy ways. If they were working on the computer she would make herself comfortable on the keyboard and if laps were unavailable she would perch on the arms or backs of those she loved. Finally her dad decided to make her a fake lap putting a pair of pants stuffed with pillows over a heating pad,completing the look with a pair of sneakers. Much to his surprise Ziggy took to the new lap person and now everyone has adjusted to working from home.

Location,Location,Location

Spite houses or homes on the rage as they're sometimes known are dwellings built for the sake of revenge either of city intervention with plans or less than pleasant neighbors. One such house is in Alameda,CA and fits both forms of revenge. The city took part of the man's land using the eminent domain clause and the neighbor supported the city in the case so the man built a house on his remaining piece of property which in turn blocked both the neighbor's view and natural light. Another spite house called the Skinny House is located in Boston and involved two brothers co-owning the same piece of property,while one brother was away at war the other brother built a large home with a view of the bay. When the brother returned from the war he built the Skinny house to block his brother's view even though he could only enter his house through an alley in the rear. I wonder if they lived in their spite houses happily ever after?

Rodent Fairies

The Tooth Fairy is actually a fairly recent invention starting around the turn of the 20th century though it didn't gain much traction until Disney came onto the scene and made fairies popular. In Europe and other countries they would place their children's teeth in different places depending both on area and era. Europeans often buried their children's teeth in hope of them growing into adult teeth,Vikings carried their children's teeth into battle for good luck. The most popular story is of a mouse who sneaks into the children's bedroom and takes the newly lost tooth and leaves coins in its place was well known in Russia,China and Spain. A similar tale was penned in  17th century France called "The Good Little Mouse" where the title character steals the evil king's teeth while he sleeps to help the queen defeat the king. Who knew?
