Marrying For Money

Normally marrying for money is frowned upon though these are not normal times. A California man who got his cat Olivia in 2015 decided to marry her and film the ceremony. They are even registered so people can opt to make donations to the animal shelter where he got the love of his life. They are live streaming the event on Instagram May 23rd. They hope to raise $5,000 for the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. I wish them the best, and I can't see Olivia catting around on him.

Sleep On It

This job has to be the perfect fit for someone out there,or a lot of someones after all who wouldn't enjoy getting paid to sleep? Olivia's, a luxury brand of beds, is searching for a "comfort connoisseur" to test different beds which are delivered and set up in your home. The company expects a scorecard to be filled out and a detailed report on each bed and at least two beds to be tested per month. The pay is $73 per hour and all that is needed is a room to set the beds up in and an outside area to test daybeds. It wasn't clear how the hours are calculated but I'm guessing it would be based on the time spent in bed and the time for the paperwork.

Who Were Those Masked Men?

I suppose it was only a matter of time before someone wearing a mask stole something since nowadays masks are the norm. I admit I've had a hard time maintaining my composure seeing all these masked men and thinking of witnesses describing the villain...they were wearing a mask, but maybe that's just my warped sense of humor at work? Anyway,in Louisa,Virginia two men went the extra mile and disguised themselves by wearing hollowed out watermelons with eye holes into a grocery store and allegedly stealing some liquor. An arrest was made not long after the theft was reported and get this, along with being charged with the theft, plus underage possession of alcohol they were also charged with wearing a mask while committing larceny!  You can't make this stuff up.

Regressing

Do you ever stare at clouds or other objects and try to see pictures? I used to do a great deal of it as a child and find myself fixating on the sky a lot lately. There is a name for this tendency, pareidolia, it used to be considered a sign of psychosis but it is now know to be a normal human trait. One example of pareidolia is seeing the man in the moon. A similar phenomena is apophenia is where sound is involved, hearing messages in common noises. I've never experienced that and it sounds a bit on the creepy side so I'll content myself for staring at the clouds and daydreaming about their shapes.

Office Attire

Since many people are working from home now dress codes no longer apply in fact some people have shown a creative flare when it comes to their new uniforms. An Indiana couple who are both currently working from home have been entertaining the wife's coworkers. The husband has always enjoyed embarrassing his wife in public so doing it online was a logical step when she set up her office in their dining room. He started out dressing up in outfits he had on hand, like a cowboy hat,Hawaiian shirt and hunting gear, then friends started sending him their Halloween costumes allowing him to become Batman and many other notables. This guy really knows how to make the best of sheltering in place!

Cake Walk

Do you enjoy walking on Legos and contributing to charity? If so this might be right up your alley,a British charity for children with disabilities is looking for volunteers to participate from their homes on May 31. The charity has teamed with UK Firewalks to make videos showing how to put mind over matter to accomplish the task. I've heard people complain about stepping on the plastic blocks though I have never had the experience. Lego first came to the US in 1973 but were first made of wood in Denmark in 1932,they were named Lego in 1953 and the rest as they say is history.

Clever,Creepy or Crazy?

The term social distancing is a 21st century phrase but the action itself goes as far back as biblical times and has been successfully used every since. With some businesses opening up again there are several ways to outline the safe distances to customers. Some places go with taped off areas, chairs on tables and other standards but the more creative proprietors have come up with things like seating blow up dolls at tables so their space doesn't seem as empty. Others have purchased small greenhouses that isolate individuals from their neighbors. One of the more fun loving options I've seen are hats with pool noodles on top causing anyone who gets to close to be whacked with a noodle. It's refreshing to see that people have kept their sense of humor through these trying times.
