M.I.A FL

Today's title reminds me of the Lou Reed song,"Walk on the Wild Side" but other than the FL connection doesn't have much to do with the subject. I thought it was time to update Florida's weird status and reiterate that just because they haven't been included lately, they are still weird. On Feb.28 drivers on U.S. 41 noted a yellow submarine driving on the shoulder.

A 15 year old poodle who had disappeared from his owner's home in Virginia 5 years ago turned up at a Cape Coral animal shelter where his microchip was read allowing them to reunite Snowball with his owner.

This last one is kind of cool,a teacher went the extra mile for her students when she was trying to describe snow. She contacted her sister in Kentucky who made a snowman, packed it in dry ice and sent it to the class.

Dying To Get In

With the time change in most of the US I thought an amusing/awful post would be in order so without further ado. A private ambulance driver parked in front of a funeral home left his door open with the radio playing and as if planned "Another One Bites the Dust" started playing much to passersby amusement/shock. Talk about timing! For anyone interested in trivia bite the dust is actually a biblical reference to the book of Psalms,"They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before Him; and His enemies shall lick the dust."

S-T-R-E-T-C-H

Not really sure why anyone would want a car that couldn't be driven other than for record holding purposes which seems like a waste of resources though that isn't for me to decide. Originally built in 1986 the American Dream was a 60 foot long limo which was later extended to 100 feet to capture the Guinness record. After making several cameo appearances in films it was left to rust in a New Jersey warehouse. It was finally found by the owner of Autoseum in poor condition so a restoration was started but funds ran low before completion and another home had to be found. The limo ended up at another car museum in Orlando,FL and when the restoration was completed it had grown 1.5 inches to break its own record plus it acquired a helipad, swimming pool, hot tub, putting green and a large waterbed.

Little Dears

Pets take a special place in the homes and hearts they live in but at what cost? An insurance company detailed some of the more unusual claims made by pet owners. A Great Dane mix caused $5233 worth of damage after turning on the kitchen sink and flooding the house. Another dog became tangled in the charging cable of its owners laptop while she was cleaning the aquarium knocking the computer into a bucket of water. Paint spilled on stairs, bleach spilled on carpet, hot iron knocked onto carpet and a dog who was excited to see another dog on TV and knocked it over, are a few others of the 800+ pet related claims filed in a typical year. Of course most policies don't cover any pet damages due to chewing, tearing, scratching or fouling. You've got to love them!

Creme de la Creme

Cadbury took a page out of the Willie Wonka playbook of golden tickets and has been having annual egg hunts for special Creme Eggs. 146 eggs were hidden this year in selected retailers in the UK,the eggs look just like the regular eggs but when they are opened they are half white chocolate and half milk chocolate. There are 6 eggs worth 10,000 pounds (US $13,085),3 eggs worth 5,000,4 worth 1,000,12 worth 500 with the remaining eggs worth 50 pounds. To claim your prize you need to call the number printed on the ticket found inside the foil wrapper, answer a series of verification questions, then you need to keep your ticket safe and DO NOT eat the egg! If so much as a bite is taken of the winning eggs you will be disqualified. Good luck eggheads!

Initial Here

Today's post actually happened in 2013 when a liver transplant surgeon was found to be initialing his work. He would sign off on his work with a surgical laser leaving his brand on an unknown number of patients. He plead guilty in 2017 and was suspended and fined but has recently been reinstated since it was determined his abilities had not been compromised. Normally his marks would have disappeared before anyone could have noticed since the liver can regenerate itself but one patient had complications which were treated by a different surgeon who found the initials on her liver.

Confused Much?

It's surprising to hear about the things people marry,of course it doesn't stop at inanimate objects but this gal takes marriage to a new level of strange. Last August this 34 year old woman decided her relationships were disappointing so she would just marry herself, that way she wouldn't have to be alone and she could prove she didn't need a man to take care of her. That was then...now she wants to get back to the party scene so she is divorcing herself but says she would marry again if she found the right person, that man should be attractive, powerful, charming, fragrant and rich. No words.
