Wacky Wedding

We made it 13 days into the new year without a single Florida post, but we all knew it wouldn't last. Before I begin I want to point out that since the bridesmaid in question was already on probation it is likely that the bride was aware that there were problems. Everything was going according to plan until the cake ceremony at which time the bridesmaid drank an entire bottle of Fireball, became drunk 15-20 minutes later, stole the car keys from the grooms pocket and almost made a clean break except the groom managed to get in the passenger door and grab the emergency brake. She went back into the reception (again, why didn't someone shut her down?) and downed a bottle of Captain Morgan and struck the best man in the head. Finally the deputies were called. On the way to the station she beat her head on the divider then laid down on the seat and started twitching stating she was having an asthma attack so they changed course and took her to a hospital where she exposed herself to the deputies and assaulted the EMTs . She was finally charged with grand theft auto, two counts of battery, violation of parole and various other charges. She is being held on $25,000 bail.

Got Your Goat?

I don't know why it never occurred to me that goats could suffer from anxiety especially since other animals can be anxious, but I digress once again. A woman in New Jersey who has a sanctuary for disabled, abused, sick,or injured goats came across an odd comfort for a blind/anxious goat named Polly. For some reason she bought a duck costume around Halloween time and when she put the costume on Polly to take a photo the goat became instantly calm and soon fell asleep, needless to say she rushed out and purchased more costumes but the duck costume is still Polly's favorite, plus a new goat name Pocket arrived in the meantime and has become fast friends with Polly.
Leanne Lauricella said her blind rescue goat Polly, who suffers from anxiety and neurological problems, instantly calmed down once she was put in a plush duck costume made for children

Once the costume was on, it was as if Polly went into a trance
But Lauricella hopes Polly (pictured) will one day shed her need for the duck costume, with a handicapped baby goat named Pocket at the sanctuary
Nowadays, Lauricella shares heartwarming photos of the two goats snuggling next to each other with her 315,000 Instagram followers

New Conservation Technique?

With snowfall not being a problem this year in that it has been abundant, water shouldn't be much of a problem in the coming summer but for future reference keep this in mind. A London based artist designed a shower curtain that tells you when your time is up. The shower curtain is covered in spikes that inflate after your 4 minutes are up making it clear that you need to get out. I'm not sure how long other people take in the shower but there is no way I can even get my hair wet let alone shampooed and rinsed in 4 minutes,in fact it would be pushing it to get in and out in 4 minutes without dealing with my hair. So far there have been no plans to market the curtain it has been more about making people aware of wasting water.

Who's Waldo/Wally?

I have no idea what kind of trouble J.J. McMenamin is in after taunting British police by dressing as Where's Waldo (Wally in Britain) and posting pictures and videos on Facebook. J.J/Waldo failed to show up for court on alleged driving offenses and the police spent the weekend searching for him including helicopters and sniffer dogs (seems a bit excessive for a driving offense). He finally posted a video of getting a ride to the police station to turn himself in,thus ending the manhunt.

Rerun?

Once again it is possible that I may be repeating myself as I have a vague recollection of reading about No Pants Subway Ride at some point and maybe I did a post about it? or maybe not but I figured if it was long enough in the past that I wasn't sure then it wouldn't hurt to do another post, who knows maybe everyone was absent that day? No Pants Subway Ride celebrated their 16th year yesterday in 60 cities around the world representing 25 different countries. The annual event is organized by Improv Everywhere and was originally a prank  with only 7 guys in New York City and has grown into an International celebration of silliness. I'm all for a good laugh and I can see why they stage the event for January as the unlikeliness makes it all the better, but I can't see risking frostbite for a prank...another sign of aging!

Funeral Fit For a ?

Fifty pole dancers dancing atop jeeps were the main attraction at the funeral event for a Taiwanese county politician who recently died. His son organized the procession saying his father's excitement for life deserved a worthy send off. The parade was several kilometers long and also featured traditional bands and drummer troupes. The man was 76 years old at the time of his death. I know I did a post a year or more back about a similar funeral but I believe that one took place in Korea,so I'm thinking it is not an unusual event in that part of the world.

Life Skills

Every time I hear about how kids should be taught life skills in school, such as sewing on a button, balancing a checkbook, changing a tire and the list goes on, I wonder why they aren't learning those things at home?  I'm not really defending the teachers but with all the time kids spend out of school it pretty much limits them to learning the three R's at school. Apparently the parents expect everything their children learn is going to be taught outside of the home but I learned all of those skills outside of school as I believe most people my age did. I often wonder what kids today think about when chicken parts (breasts, thighs, legs) are on offered sale,do they assume that there are different kinds of chickens that grow only breasts,or thighs,or legs?  Next time I'm around some kids I hope to remember to ask them about the chicken they like best or better yet what that chicken looks like.
