Companion Items?

Maybe it's my lack of fashion sense that keeps me returning to the subject, that or these things really are strange. Feel free to decide for yourself. A Ukraine fashion designer has introduced asymmetrical jeans, one leg flared and one fitted, all for $377. Nike has unveiled Air Max 1 Golf "Grass" shoes featuring grass like turf material on the top and sides for $140 though their release date has yet to be announced. I'm not sure what the idea is behind the grass shoes unless for some reason a person would want their feet to blend in with the grass? for that matter I haven't a clue what the pants are about either. It keeps getting stranger, the pictures of the pants didn't post, maybe they are supposed to be top secret?? If you want to see the jeans put it into your search engine since I couldn't provide you with the pictures.

Another Uary

Technically it's not another uary because the first example was Januhairy so it's more like another play on the month as a whole. Today's weirdness comes out of the UK where a popular pub chain is featuring cauliflower steaks for the same price as beef steaks for the month of Veganuary. Some folks were outraged that the vegan offering was the same price, personally it seems like it probably is a lot more labor intensive to prepare the vegan choice so I have no problem with the price, plus I don't think vegans are into being vegans solely about the cost of what they eat.

Let the Chips Fall

Just when a person thinks they've heard it all something new and bizarre appears on the horizon, for example aphrodisiac potato chips. Maybe it is way to boost chip sales for Valentines Day?  Manufactured by Tyrrells (I don't thing there's any connection to the pet food company)  they claim the honey/chili combination tweak hormone levels and release endorphins causing "romantic" reactions. If you want to test drive these chips you will need to act right a way as they are only going to be available for a limited time. They are made in the UK but a person can get most of their heart's desires online.

Bare the Hair

Unicorn armpit hair is a thing. It apparently started to celebrate Pride month (last June) and now here we are in Januhairy where people are embracing the trend to grow out their body hair and dye it in bright, rainbow colors which seems a little odd to me since January typically isn't sleeveless wear weather, but once again I never claimed to have any fashion sense. I couldn't care less if anyone chooses to not shave their body hair, however it may be courting disaster to use dye in the delicate areas where body hair grows,so as a caution, don't do something strictly for fashion that may put your health at risk.

Raining Spiders

If you happen to be both a climate change denier and are arachnophobic you might want to pay attention to today's post. Hundred or maybe thousands of spiders were recorded on a giant collective web across the sky in Brazil. The phenomenon is caused by extreme heat an humidity forcing to spiders to spin a massive web in order to catch prey (mostly insects) who can't avoid the web due to its size. Researchers call this behavior ballooning. It puts me in mind of the spiders who spin webs across my stairs in the fall hoping to catch me and feast like kings over the winter months though so far their webs have not managed to trap me.

Prepared?

In the Cascadia Subduction Zone it is recommended that people keep enough food and water for at least 10 days, however with Mad Dog Don at the helm perhaps those guidelines fall bigly short. Not to fear Costco saw it coming and has it handled! They are offering in their emergency food department (I think that is just an online service) a 27 lb bucket of Macaroni and Cheese. Inside the bucket are 180 individual pouches and I assume the bucket is to prevent rodents and what not from devouring your stash. They have a shelf life of 20 years and the cost is around .50 per serving for a total of $89.99. Costco is also offering a $1,000 family emergency package designed to feed a small family for a year. It figures that Costco, home of the giant sized everything, would be there in a big way for emergency preparedness.

Something To Chew On

Chewing on your coat can give a higher blood alcohol reading according to a lawyer in Pennsylvania. In an attempt to get his client off from a DUI the 47 year old woman's attorney suggested that some fabrics can give false results on the breath test and the officer did admit he asked her to stop nibbling at her coat. Naturally I was intrigued by something in a fabric that could give a reading of 0.151 so I checked for myself and found nothing about fabrics and blood alcohol readings,I did however find that both chewing gum and tobacco could give a higher reading. Perhaps that's what the lawyer meant to say! At any rate the judge said the field sobriety test and the fact the officer smelled alcohol on her were enough evidence to send it to trial.
