Beagles Bugging Out

Two hard working,bedbug sniffing beagles will soon be retiring after working for the New York City Dept. of Housing Preservation and Development since 2011 and participating in over 30,000 inspections. Mickey,11 and Nemo 10 are looking for their replacements since the vet told the dept they had 2 working years left. They will join Roscoe,the previous inspector, in retirement from public service. Ownership will remain with the city but they will be well provided for.

Damned if You Do,Damned if You Don't

A Chinese restaurant,in China of all places,is apologizing after facing blow back from customers after they placed scales at the entrance with menu suggestions according to weight. Admittedly,this was not a well thought out plan but it was in response to China's president calling on the country to reduce food waste. The scales still remain in place but the owner has made it clear that weighing is totally up to the customer,she is also planning to add nutritional information to the guide. China continues trying to deal with a slowed economy plus crops ruined by weather and disease that wiped out a major portion of their pig population. Good old donny dipshit,spreading destruction to everything he touches...how's that trade war working out? 

Space Force Horse

Kinda has a ring to it,don't you think? A 5 year old BLM mustang named Ghost is the latest recruit to the Space Force,though he isn't on the short list to venture into space. The Space Force has a branch at Vandenberg Air Force Base in southern California and patrolling the area calls for horses so the fragile ecological system isn't disrupted by the likes of ATVs or other motorized means. They seem to be a combination of the EPA and Fish and Wildlife,so why they are called Space Force is anyone's guess. I'm pleased to hear they are using the BLM horses instead of ruthlessly killing them.

Talking Turkey

Earlier this month I did a post about a wild boar in Germany stealing a man's laptop and a couple of days ago a boar swam out of the Baltic sea onto a German beach and created chaos which made me wonder if it wasn't more about the wild animals getting used to not having humans in their environment than it was about them acting differently. The clincher for my theory came when officials in California were trying to catch and relocate a wild turkey named Gerald who had lived in a park in the Oakland area for years and suddenly became aggressive. Instead of just assuming these animals ran amok for no reason it seems somewhat obvious to me that they got used to the absence of humans and decided to keep them out of their territory.

Masquerade Ball?

An Israeli jewelry company was commissioned to make the world's most expensive face mask by an undisclosed Chinese businessman. For a cool 1.5 million the mask is made of 18 carat gold and features 3,600 black and white diamonds plus it is fitted with N99 filters allowing it to be used for virus protection. Of course when it comes to the practical portion of the equation the weight of the completed mask (over 1/2 lb.) will make it too heavy to wear for anything short of cameo appearances,not to mention it is sure to rub many out of work and otherwise negatively affected people the wrong way,though this is definitely something I could see trump doing.

Delusional

I've been quiet on the trump front for quite some time now since I didn't want to add more stress to the current situation,not to mention his supporters seem to take any criticism as a rallying cry to kick it up a notch,but I fell off the wagon after reading about how he was going to try to roll back a law from 1992 that limits shower heads water flow to 2.5 gallons a minute because he can't make his hair "perfect" at the current rate of flow. I have two massive problems with this,first there is no way by any stretch of the imagination that the term perfect should be used to describe his hair,and secondly once again he is the only one that matters. He doesn't even care if his grandchildren (and obviously anyone else's grandchildren) have access to clean water in the future,and never mind that a two decade long drought continues,not to mention the pandemic,but NO he's worried about his fucking ugly ass hair.

To Bee or Not to Bee

I was a little stunned to find out that a common Slovenian relaxation method is listening to bees buzzing. They compare it to the sound of rain or waves. One out of every 200 Slovenians are bee keepers and apiaries are found most everywhere including schoolyards. Slovenia also launched the initiative for World Bee Day in 2014. They are also known for their unique beehive panels that date back to the 18th century as both a manner of story telling and an aid for the bees to find their hives. It's good to know someone is looking out for the bees but I wonder about both bee allergies and how something as annoying as buzzing can be found relaxing though we all have our own preferences.
