To offset the craziness of the day,anti-vaxers catching COVID and being surprised,a trump supporter and QAnon nutcase threatening to bomb the Library of Congress,you know the drill. Personally I think it's time they put on their tin foil hats and leave the rest of us alone. Meanwhile someone had the grace to literally spread some joy. In Belfast,Maine a 25 foot duck appeared in the harbor in the shallow water anchored to a civilian bridge and the town landing. The message was simple,Joy!
I've never stayed at a B&B though I would guess that other than following house rules a person could expect to be treated as a guest,by that I don't mean being waited on hand and foot but also not expected to do chores since most likely when you're on vacation and have plans of your own. This particular B&B had other plans for their guests though,like watering 10 hanging flower baskets twice a day,never mind the owner lived on site. Entitlement seems to be the order of the day no matter where a person is. If a person had signed on at a ranch to get a taste of farm living I can see being assigned chores but other than that no,not even for a sizable discount,after all it's your vacation.
Today is Black Cat Appreciation Day and I'd like to share a few things about black cats in their honor. Black cats are still suffering discrimination since from the 1200s when Pope Gregory IX believed them satanic and ordered them killed,oddly enough the Catholic church is still holding on to the thought that they are associated with evil/witchcraft. I ask you,"What century are we living in?" then again why should it be surprising when black people are also still suffering from discrimination? Black cats are half as likely to be adopted from a shelter as any other color. I don't know if this will help their cause or not but I couldn't let the day pass without making an effort on their behalf.
I often wonder if they don't teach cursive writing in school anymore how do kids learn their signature? Not to mention most everyone is getting worse at writing longhand because it isn't used enough to keep in practice. Maybe that was the problem a 67 year old man in England ran into when he went to rob a bank but the note he handed the teller was illegible to the point where out of three attempts at three different bank he only had success at one bank and that only netted him $3,300,probably not the payday he was hoping for. In case you can't decipher the note from the picture it said:"Your screen won't stop what I've got,just hand over the 10s and 20s. Think about the other customers." He has been identified and arrested at his home through the wonder of security footage.
Disclaimer: I'm just passing this along in case it helps someone not because it has worked for me. According to a communication coach the cure to nix overthinking is simple,keep your eyeballs still. The logic behind the advice is that your brain needs your eyeballs to be moving if it is going to think and fetch memories. Another therapist agreed that not moving the eyes minimizes the bilateral brain processing/thoughts. The reason I'm not sold on the "cure" is my overthinking usually happens at night when my eyes are closed and not moving though I will make sure they aren't moving next time just to confirm my theory.
