Good Dog

 There's good dogs then there's Titan. Titan is a white labradoodle who helped police solve his owner's murder. Police responded to a brush fire and found a body burned beyond recognition. Titan barked at the officers and refused to leave the area. The morning after the body was recovered someone found Titan still sitting where the body had been found and called animal control who discovered he was microchipped which led them to find his owner was missing. Forensics confirmed Titan's owner and the burned body were the same person which led to her murderer being arrested several days later. Good boy Titan! 

Ice Cube

 Have you ever wondered how an igloo can keep anyone warm especially in temps of -65? Oddly enough it all has to do with heat and how it moves. Since heat rises the entrance is built lowest the next level is the living space which is higher than the entry, then the sleeping loft is yet another foot higher which is where the most heat will be, the heat itself is body heat. Additionally the shape of the igloo and the snow it is built from aid in heat retention, the snow is 95% trapped air making it excellent insulation. When built properly an igloo can be 40-60 degrees warmer than the outside depending on weather, the body heat of the people inside and the thickness of the walls. 

On the Fly

 The fly refers to the flap in men's underwear which was originally supposed to expedite the procedure when they went to urinate but as it turns out 80% of the male population never bother with the fly because it's easier and faster to pull down the front of the underwear and take aim (hopefully). So why do the manufacturers still use the design? I think we can rule out it being cheaper. According to one source the fly has underwent changes and is no longer flat so now it is easier to use, roomier, gives better definition,  comfort, support, and freedom. Stop me if I'm wrong, but aren't some of those words contradictory? 

Up and Out

 Other than being prepositions what do up and out have in common? They are both used with the word wazoo, which is slang for butt and sometimes other orifices. The origin of the word isn't exact though OED thinks it might come from the French word oiseau meaning bird, or possibly from the word razoo, meaning raspberry, the kind you blow not the kind you eat. Another theory is wazoo came from kazoo or gazoo referring to the buzzing instrument which became slang for butt in the 1960s, the bottom line, whether it's up or out the wazoo it is an excess or abundance and not in a good way. 

That Blows

 Yukai engineering company has a line of odd animal robots designed to do small tasks. The latest arrival to their stable is a tiny cat robot to blow on hot food or drinks allowing the consumer to use the blowing time to do other tasks. The robots name is Nekojita FuFu, Nekojita means cat tongue and FuFu represents the sound made when blowing on hot drinks. The device can be set to blow at different strengths and intervals as described below and sells for $25. 

• The Basic Main mode. Steady medium-strength/length blows with short intervals.
• Look at That! Gradually ramps up in strength as if it’s captivated by how the food looks.
• I’ve Got This! Strong head-start followed by sustained power.
• The Princess Elegant. Slow and steady increases in strength.
• Sing My Praise. Nonstop series of strong and short blows.
• Ready Yet? Stop-and-go medium blows as if it’s checking to see if it’s cool enough to eat.
• ‘Til You Drop. Long, strong and nonstop blow in a single breath.
• Not Gonna Spill. Steady medium blows with short deep inhalations in between.

Bad Words

Unlike a previous post on words removed from the dictionary these words were banished by Lake Superior State University who has been at the task of banning overused words/phrases since 1976. First on their list is cringe due to overuse, next up is game changer which lost favor because everything became a game changer giving the phrase no meaning. Era, other than in the Taylor Swift sense is just plain tired. Dropped, whether referring to a book or music is easily replaced with any number of words and has become flat. IYKYK ( if you know you know) is pretty much meaningless much like "it is what it is". Sorry Not Sorry is just an excuse to be a jerk. Skibidi is just noise and nobody really knows what it means. 100% was used to the point of needing 100% retirement. Utilize is just a way to take up more space in speech since it means the same as use. Last on the list for this year is period, no one needs a statement to be verbally punctuated.  

Not 911

 Today's post looks at the top ten reasons not to call 911, while they're humorous it's no laughing matter to tie up a line meant for emergencies. #10 a caller wanted advise on what to do with someone on their friend's list that they didn't recognize. #9 complained their parents wanted them to clean their room. #8 reported a fox wandering the neighborhood scaring a local cat. #7 had bees inside their house. #6 wanted police to unlock their cell phone. #5 called because someone had thrown their ice cream on the ground. #4 wanted an officer dispatched to help with their cat being mean. #3 needed help with a malfunctioning washing machine. #2 requested help with a math problem. #1 reported someone had taken their tambourine at a party.
