Hypnosis House

Some of you may have heard of the Tennessee haunted house (McKamey Manor) that requires anyone interested in going through it to sign a 40 page waiver, pass a sports physical, pass a drug test, have proof of medical insurance,be at least 21 years old, plus a background check. Its claim to fame is no one has ever made it through the house even though the prize for completing the tour is $20,000. The first step is watching a 2 hour video of people attempting to complete the tour from 2017-2019. McKamey says the key to the terror is using the visitors minds via hypnotism to trick them into terrorizing themselves. Each experience is video recorded to prove to visitors and authorities that nothing illegal occurred.

Skin in the Game

Even though yesterday's post was about real (dead/used) skin that isn't the case today. Today's offering is even weirder,an artificial skin for cell phones has been invented to make the phone an even closer extension of its user. The "skin" is made with the same type of process used in robotics skin and is being applied to smartphones, touchpads and smartwatches. If the very thought doesn't make you shiver how about this? The ways you can interact with your phone's skin include slapping, pinching and tickling. I can almost understand the slapping being helpful on some level, but I'm totally lost on why anyone would want or need to tickle their phone.

Creepy or Cool?

There are pros and cons to the idea of preserving the beloved tattoos of family and friends when they die. On the pro side the artwork is expensive, plus it could serve as visual connection with the deceased. On the con side there will never be a long enough time span to not be reminded of Ed Gein, the serial killer who made clothes and other items from his victim's skins. Either way the new business "Save My Ink Forever" will make wall hangings or frame your loved ones body art, though they draw the line at inked genitals and face art. The end result is low maintenance art that you treat the way you would any fine artwork. I don't know much about tattoos but I wonder if a wrinkled tattoo could be stretched to show the original work,or if the skin would be to fragile? Why do I think of this macabre stuff?

Plastic Peeve

A few weeks back I posted a piece about the site "Free the Ocean" where if you answer a trivia question every day it pays to have a piece of plastic removed from the ocean. Since I have been playing I have learned some disheartening information such as some tea bags are now being made of plastic. It simply makes me see red to think that instead of cutting back on plastics some companies are opting to use them instead of a more sustainable alternative. Oh and if that isn't enough to make a person wonder what the hell is going on how about this? India is banning plastics nationwide and plan to be plastic free by 2022! and never mind that their plastic consumption is only 24 lbs per capita  compared to 240 lbs in the US.  Why aren't all countries following this lead? Everything that is currently being made from plastic can be made with either hemp or bamboo. We really need to make our voices heard on this plastic plague. Okay, end of rant.

Super Horny

A six year old Texas longhorn named Bucklehead unofficially broke the world record for longest horn span earlier this month. His horns measured 11 feet 1.8 inches tip to tip breaking the previous record of  10 feet 7.4 inches. After viewing photos of this animal I tried to find out if having horns that long is painful since they look both heavy and cumbersome, but I didn't find anything about that other than apparently there is a song with those lyrics. I did find out that steer horns grow longer than either bulls or cows as their testosterone level is the perfect level for growing horns,so I did manage to learn something new today.

This Little Piggy

First off I want everyone to note that I'm not trying to parent shame this dad so no one needs to get their nose out of joint over that. A father left his 3 year old daughter alone in the kitchen while he went out to the garden for 10 minutes to fix a fence. His 6 year old son came out and told his dad that his sister was eating a yogurt which the dad responded that was okay. When he went back inside he was astounded to see that his daughter had helped herself to not one,but 18 yogurts. Of course a child shouldn't be reprimanded for eating but it makes a person wonder when the last time they had fed the kid, even considering the small size of the yogurts that's a lot of food for a 3 year old,but thinking it was funny and making a big deal out of it  probably wasn't a great reaction either. Then people wonder how eating disorders get started.

Color My World

I can't help but think this situation was caused by operator error since,if Kmart can be believed,no one had complained before this incident. An Australian mom took her 11 year old daughter shopping at Kmart and after picking up a few items they found a bath bomb kit which they both thought would be a fun thing to do together. It took them the best part of an hour to make the bombs and 40 minutes to clean up the mess, which should have been a clue. Then the daughter went to try out the freshly formed bomb. Moments later she was calling her mom into the bathroom to look at her now Shrek colored body. When the mom contacted Kmart about the accidental dye job they claimed no one else had reported a problem with the product.
