Valentines day has been around since the 3rd century,who knew? The reason for it being on the 14th is that was the day St. Valentine was executed,my point being it wasn't always about love until Chaucer stepped up to the plate and gave it a romantic spin,it was all downhill from there! In Victorian times through the 1940s people sent anonymous vinegar valentines to show their dislike of one another and to add insult to injury the recipient was stuck with the postage! Have a look.
