Most everyone knows the Oval Office is where the business of running the US is most often done, but the actual history of the office isn't as widely known. The first Oval Office was George Washington's tent which he used as an office and bedroom during the American Revolution, the tent is on display at the Museum of the American Revolution. The next Oval Office was installed by Taft and other than a few mishaps rendering it temporarily unusable it was used by the presidents until FDR. Roosevelt had the office moved into the West Wing's southeast corner so he could have easier access to the residence. The room that is presently the Oval Office was once used for drying laundry. I wonder if anyone has ever been told to go defecate in a corner in the Oval Office?
