The Dogs Knew All Along

Urinals have been around since 1000 CE and have basically been the same design, which is surprising because it is a poor design. A 2019 study found that splash backs  from the 56 million urinals in the US alone equaled1 million liters of urine a day. Even though urine itself is mostly sterile once it mixes with its surroundings it becomes a breeding ground for bacteria, and never mind the smell factor, add to that the costs in products and labor to clean it up. The new designs came about from researchers watching how dogs urinated at an angle to avoid splash back. Long story short, splash back was significantly reduced when the urine strikes the surface at an angle of 30 degrees or less. No clue as to when the old styles will all be replaced but once they are take time to thanks a male dog!
