Space Bodies

In the past I've raised the question of space litter/pollution and why after ruining a perfectly good planet the lesson wasn't being applied to other planets. Today's post is about space debris of another sort, mainly what happens if someone dies? Believe it or not NASA hadn't addressed that little detail until 2012, and then it was done on the down low, I'm guessing they were a bit embarrassed, as they should be. I won't go into all the contingencies and there are many, but it boils down to a high tech body bag called Human Remains Containment Unit (HRCU) and all astronauts have been trained to take various samples before placing remains into the bag so cause of death can be determined once the body reaches where ever it calls home.
