Scientists have captured images of whales blowing bubble rings in what they think may be an attempt to communicate. They've noted the humpback whales using bubbles to display dominance or in competition for mates which led them to further studies. The whales seem calm and curious when interacting with humans either swimming or in boats and the bubble blowing is from different whales in different locations around the world. Now for the part that makes you go hmm...the scientists doing the study are part of the SETI (search for extraterrestrial life) not that they think the whales are from outer space but more in trying to understand different methods of communicating, or so they say!
