The slang term for flaky is from around 1959 and pertains to a baseball term for an eccentric sort of person and that term is thought to have come from the 1920s for flake cocaine,but getting back to today's subject it is used to describe a corn flake eater. According to legend Kellogg developed the bland breakfast cereal because of his belief that bland foods, especially at breakfast time would keep people from masturbating. John Kellogg (pictured on the left in the black and white photo) was an anti-sex campaigner and though his cereal invention was never advertised as a masturbation preventative his bland diet belief says otherwise...oh,and did I mention corn flakes were fed to the patients at the Kellogg sanitarium in Michigan?
