Pearl, a 14 year old hen, is the current Guinness World Record holder for oldest chicken. It wasn't an easy road for Pearl to reach her pinnacle, in fact much of her life has been a struggle. She was a runt when she hatched so the other hens picked on her, she also broke a leg fleeing a racoon attack, suffered bouts of chicken pox and pneumonia, and now tilts to one side from arthritis. Once old age started to slow her down her family moved her inside where she enjoys cuddling with a mop in the laundry room when she isn't watching TV and getting neck scratches. She also enjoys her supervised time outside where she digs up slugs which supplement her favorite treats of cherry tomatoes and grapes. Quite a gal is Pearl.
