Recently unveiled at the Japan Mobility Show Toyota's wheelchair concept trades wheels for four articulated legs. They are calling it "Walk Me" the legs extend and contract allowing it to climb stairs, handle uneven surfaces or lower itself to the floor. Though still in the concept stage it is notable in that it doesn't depend on the world to accommodate it, instead it adapts to the surroundings. It almost looks like it might fit down an airplane aisle unlike a wheelchair. That would be a blessing to many handicapped people.
