A 16 year old Belgian Malinois, K9 Hurricane, the most decorated dog in US history, has passed away. His numerous honors include: US Secret Service Award for Merit, the Department of Homeland Security Award for Valor, the PDSA Order of Merit, American Medical Center Top Dog, and the first dog to receive the Animals in War and Peace Distinguished Service Medal, which earned him a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. He was medically retired in 2016 due to injures he sustained in 2014 while taking down an intruder in the White House when the Obama family was in residence. Hurricane's legacy will live on through his foundation Hurricane's Heroes for military and government retired working dogs medical expenses.
