Back in the olden days (pre 1968) kids looked forward to February because they got two days off in that month for Lincoln's birthday and Washington's birthday. In the present time the holiday is called President's Day and occurs on the third Monday of February which means it will never be on either Lincoln's or Washington's birthday. The legislation also made the day to encompass all presidents which kind of sucks since not all of them have given stellar performances in the office, but hey! at least there's a 3 day weekend involved now instead of 2 separate days off. Nice and tidy.
