NASCAR and Booze

It is entirely possible that I'm the only one who doesn't know how NASCAR got started, with that said let the good times roll. Making moonshine was a business even before prohibition though not as profitable. After the concoction was ready to go two drivers would take off for their destination, the first driver would haul ass to get the ATF to chase him while the second driver would travel within the local laws and he was also the car loaded with moonshine. After prohibition ended the drivers still needed the thrill of speeding so after WWII races started getting promoted and organized and by 1947 related events fell under the NASCAR label. Until 2005 liquor companies were still allowed to sponsor cars. What an odd connection considering how booze and driving don't generally go well together.
