Today's post relates to yesterday's offering but probably not in the way you might think. A bucket of beer is not an acceptable amount to call a serving of beer, at least not for a human. Today we're talking horses and beer, yes they like it, plus it's good for them though they don't get a buzz unless they consume mass quantities because they have an enzyme in their liver that converts the alcohol to simple sugars, plus their size factors in. Beer is also a good way to get B vitamins (B for beer?) that are good for their skin and coat. The yeast in the beer is good for their gut health, the hops may be helpful in preventing laminitis, and last on the bennies list is barley. Barley makes the flavor the horses enjoy so if there are concerns about dehydration just slip a beer into their water and don't forget to pop one for yourself!
