Shoe Scam

This is one of the most clever advertising gimmicks ever! Payless Shoesource filled an empty Armani store in Santa Monica,CA with their discount footwear then put up a sign reading Palessi (that should have been a give away) they then invited some fashion influencers to a party at the store where they proceeded to sell $20 shoes for hundreds of dollars all the while filming the event including when the customers were told they had just purchased Payless fashion shoes. They then refunded the money and are using the videos complete with testimonials from the surprised fashionistas to advertise online and TV!  I'll be watching for those ads!

Playing Catch Up?

Or maybe that should be playing ketchup since the topic is Burger King's new promotion. I can't say what fast food places do for customers with dogs in other places but the ones around here either hand out dog biscuits or tiny ice cream cones,I also don't know what policy Burger King had in place before this promo. What they are doing now has so many qualifiers that a person would have to be willing to jump through the hoops to get the flame grilled bone known as the Dogpper for their pet. First of all a Whopper has to be ordered, but not from the drive-thru or dine-in,it has to be delivered to your home by DoorDash food delivery services which leaves out pretty much everyone but the urban dwellers, but don't let it be said there are no perks to living in a big city!

A New Florida?

Not only have Mississippi voters made a questionable choice but perhaps they are sharing a common water supply with Florida since other odd behavior has been noticed. A 28 year old Gulfport man crashed his pickup into the courthouse. He explained that he had intentionally drove into the building because it was the best way to get their attention to report someone had stolen his drug paraphernalia. He was charged with driving under the influence and malicious mischief and is being held in the county jail.

It's a Dog's Life

An IKEA store in Italy has opened their doors for the stray dogs to come in from the winter weather for a cozy place to sleep and a meal. As a side benefit many of the dogs have been adopted by customers. The store's unofficial slogan is,"A perfect living room is where we find our four-legged friend to expect us at the end of the day." Even though it is highly commendable for them to give food and shelter to these animals it makes a person wonder why other parts of Europe and of course the US are turning their backs on immigrants.

Survival of the Nastiest?

A woman in Australia wanted to fill her farm with animals roaming free in a sanctuary setting and all was going well until she introduced five geese. Geese are nasty vicious creatures who try to rule by intimidation but if that doesn't work they can and will attack. With that in mind I started wondering if that is why there are so many geese? then I tried to think of another animal who thrived from their vicious behavior and short of humans came up dry. At any rate the woman was able to re-home the geese and restore peace to the farm.

"If you have a big family and a huge oven I would suggest the two big ones make it a very Merry Xmas," Du Preez said.
“Don’t be fooled by their cute little beady eyes,” Du Preez wrote. “They stare deep into your soul an

Part Two

As we left our hero yesterday he was about to explain more about our current dilemma.
"History has proven repeatedly that lunatics will rise to power again and again on tidal waves of aggressive nationalism and intolerance, even in places where it seems utterly incomprehensible."
It still feels incomprehensible that our great nation is an unwilling participant in the current lunacy, though take comfort in the following thought.
"Let the fanatical voices of the bullies be silenced by the unified voices of decency."
(excerpts from "Origin" by Dan Brown)

Part One

I recently finished a book by Dan Brown,"Origin" and wanted to share a couple of excerpts that seemed important in our current political climate. The book was released in 2017 and never mentions any current names though it sure sounded familiar.
"The most vicious are not the people who build the bombs, but the influential leaders who fuel hatred among desperate masses, inspiring their foot soldiers to commit acts of violence. It takes only one powerful dark soul to wreak havoc in the world by inspiring spiritual intolerance, nationalism or loathing in the minds of the vulnerable."
Part Two will follow tomorrow.

Another Celebrity Arrest

Fred Flintstone was stopped for speeding then arrested when he became unruly. He was driving a customized Smart car that resembled the foot powered cartoon car from the 60s show. The car was later impounded and may become part of the police fleet should our country's return to the past become complete. Where did this happen you ask? Florida.

Florida Takes a Day Off

If you have ever wondered why grateful is spelled more like a cheese grater than with the word great which seems to make more sense,it is because the root comes from gratitude, your welcome! Now,about that cheese grater...a Floyd County,Kentucky man came home to find his cousin stealing from him. Among the items he was trying to make off with were a cheese grater,an empty can of Lysol and a bar of soap. Now the soap I can kind of understand,Kentucky has a law that a person has to bath at least once a year,so maybe it was almost his cousin's time of year. The man thought it was likely due to a bad batch of meth.

Sausage Scented?

Jimmy Dean sausages is requesting customers to take photos of their favorite recipes and send the pictures to jimmydeangiftexchange.com and then chose a gift from their list. One of the gifts on the list is sausage scented wrapping paper. I can't imagine what artificial sausage smell would smell like but I would guess it to be fairly awful, but if it were scented with real sausage it couldn't be used as wrapping paper because it would be greasy and tape wouldn't stick to it,so it would be more like fire starting paper. One participant will also win a diamond studded belt buckle inspired by Jimmy Dean's signature belt buckle valued at $10,000.

Rosie Rocks It

3,734 women turned out dressed as Rosie the Riveter to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest group of Rosies posers. Several of the women were original Rosies, two of the women were 100 and 101 and had actually worked in the plant they all gathered to raise funds to save. The Willow Run bomber plant was where Rose Will Monrow worked making bomber wings during WWII. The women paid homage to the mothers and grandmothers plus inspired their own children and grandchildren to remain strong.

Project Plastic

In Dutch cities they aren't in denial about global problems they are doing things about the problems. One step is Zero Waste Lab who take you old fabric, paper and plastic to turn into other useful objects and as a reward for your trouble they are giving discount tokens for local shops,win-win. In a bigger way the Dutch are also building Recycled Parks made with plastics retrieved from the North Sea and other areas. The parks are made entirely from plastic then planted with plants and algae on the bottom of the floating areas to make areas for fish to feed and leave their eggs to both develop and be protected from predators. It would be wonderful to see this trend expanded globally and we should all do what we can to make that a reality.
