The Deal With the Do

I have finally stumbled across the "why" of Trump's bizarre hairdo. It may also answer other questions like why he doesn't seem capable of concentrating and focusing on the smallest things such as what he said at the beginning of a sentence. The scalp reduction procedure he had in the 1980s is barbaric at best and can cause permanent and painful results. Ivanka explains the secrets behind the hair:an absolutely clean pate surrounded by a furry circle or hair around the sides and front, from which all ends are drawn up to meet in the center and then swept back and secured by a stiffening spray. The color is from a product called Just For Men which the longer it is left on the darker it gets, his impatience results in the odd color.

No Bull

For those readers with a nodding acquaintance of history today's post may remind you of Teddy Roosevelt's Bull Moose Party. After he had served as president Teddy started the party to give the American people back economic and political power and put an end to the era of big money, big government, unfortunately the party was short lived. The moose in the following photo had tangled with a flag, perhaps at the post office in nearby Jackson Hole,Wyoming. I can't help but wonder if the so called president would find this unpatriotic or go out on a limb and salute him...one never knows how the petulant toddler in chief will react at any given moment.

Friday Fun

Do you think your family is weird? Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon invited people to tweet about their family's peculiarities, the results follow:
My grandmother has fake plants but she likes to use real dirt to make them seem real.
My grandpa would sit in his chair with a blanket because he wasn't wearing any pants. When he got up he would yell,"red light" and we were to close our eyes. When he thought he was far enough down the hall he'd yell,"green light". He was never far enough.
I heard my grandparents giggling upstairs once so I went and peeked in their bedroom and found them wearing each others dentures.  (That one could have turned out a lot worse!)

Tow Hold

I've been thinking about subscribing to a Florida newspaper since the happenings there rival the comics section of most papers...for instance,a man from Homestead found his F250 on the hook of a tow truck in the process of being repossessed so he asked if he could get a few personal items from the cab before it was towed. The tow truck driver agreed. The man got into the cab, started the engine and put the pickup into 4 wheel drive and tried to drive off. The chains held and the bigger truck won the tug of war,the man was arrested minutes later and charged with grand theft and criminal mischief. I'm thinking he probably won't be able to make up those missed payments now.

It's in the Bag

A 28 year old woman in north west China created a wedding dress out of 40 cement sacks on a rainy afternoon in around 3 hours. The sacks were from some recent work being done on their home and apparently she had been looking through a magazine and decided to put the bags to use. The woman has never been to design school in fact she dropped out of school when her father died of cancer and went to work on the farms. She married in 2012 and has a son. Don't take me wrong here,I admire her recycling effort and creativity but it still looks like a dress?made out of cement sacks in 3 hours. My advice would be not to quit her day job,but we all know about me and fashion...I'm still trying to figure out why I buy new jeans when mine wear out when everyone else pays for jeans with holes in them.
28-year-old Tan Lili produced the entire gown - completed with a bridal hat and a lengthy dress train - with 40 discarded cement bags after using the contents to renovate her home in China
While most wedding gowns are made of silk, satin and lace, a woman in north-west China impressed millions by creating a stunning dress with the least expected materials
Pictures and video footage shows a proud Tan walking out in the charming woven dress featuring an open back design, which she created in three hours last Wednesday

Dog on Ice

Labs are known for being natural athletes and very trainable but there's always another first around the corner. Benny is a five year old lab who was saved from death row at a shelter when he was only a few months old. His owner is a retired ice skating coach who still enjoys being on the ice at least a couple of times a month. The first time Benny went to the rink with her he joyfully ran around the ice picking up pucks so she decided to fit Benny with skates and has since taught him crossovers, bunny hops and an array of turns and tricks,he is her new best student and eager to learn more. Let this be a warning to anyone who lets their dogs breed at will,no matter how cute or clever those puppies are there aren't enough homes for them all,Benny got lucky.

Three Times a Lady?

I thought about just posting some rather bizarre photos today and ending with an exaggerated question mark, but decided just because I was confused was no reason to pass the confusion on. The regular readers know I have never claimed any fashion expertise but I really don't feel like this is actually fashion related. Fashion label GCDS featured models wearing prosthetic breasts so they appeared to have a third breast, either mimicking the "Total Recall" look or to reflects someone's dreams/nightmares. As I previously mentioned I don't have a single clue when it comes to "fashion".
At this point you are on your own!

Shout It Out

Huutajat is a Finnish men's shouting choir who started in the late 1980s with 20 men dressed in black suits doing surprise performances in the Oulu region. The group has now become about 30 strong and is widely recognized as an art form. They perform national anthems, children's ditties,or international treaties. The group is conducted by their founder and can be heard doing complex rhythmic structures or simple but loud reading. They hope to one day perform at the White House.

Go In Peace

For animal lovers it can be difficult to enjoy meals containing meat even to the point of some people giving up meat in their diet. It bothered me to have to participate in the actual death like throwing a lobster in a pot of boiling water, though now a lobster can go to pot in a different and perhaps more humane way. Charlotte's Legendary Lobster Pound in Maine is owned by a registered medical marijuana caregiver and she decided to extend her practice/knowledge to the lobsters. She experimented by putting a lobster in a tank with only a few inches of water then blew smoke into the tank,as a result the lobster was calmer for several weeks. Scientists are looking into the matter to see if it has merit but meanwhile the state has asked  the owner halt the process while they investigate.

Public Service

Before I get started today I want to make it clear that I have nothing against marriage or partnerships though neither of the above have ever worked for me. An unlikely source of breakups a 28 year old Scottish comedian has hastened at least 4,000 splits (maybe more that weren't reported) all from a 20 minute routine he does. Done in a joking manner he explains how people are tricked into thinking they have a soulmate and that they aren't complete unless they have found their "one".  I've been trying to get this same message across to people who I've known to be in miserable relationships for many years though very few of them were secure enough with themselves to take the single plunge. Once the luxury of being single is experienced it would take something really special to make a person want to be part of a couple.

Bucket Overflow

For some reason I didn't realize that my bucket list was going to keep growing,I was under the illusion that I would eventually do everything on the list and that would be that, not so. Today I added yet another thing/place I want to see. The Museum of Illusions has opened this very day in NYC. There are around 100 exhibits  including dilemma games, optical illusions, holograms, brain teasers and stereo-grams to name a few. I hadn't planned another trip to NYC but that's okay because I really enjoy going there,it's a fun place with lots to see and do,now I just have to fit it into my busy schedule!

Apples and Oranges...Oh My!

As strange as some of the things that I come across are today's post rates near the top of that strangeness heap, and it didn't even happen in Florida. A 27 year old man in Virginia was arrested after an employee witnessed him pulling his pants down and rubbing produce on his bare butt and then replacing the items on the shelves. The man was charged with two misdemeanors, indecent exposure and destruction of property. The store had to destroy several pallets of produce which seems odd since the man was limited to what was on display at the time but I suppose this would be a case of better safe than sorry. I have no idea on the why of this mans actions unless it was some odd sexual thing though I find that hard to imagine and as most of you know I have a pretty vivid imagination.

Proctologist Post

Some folks just can't take a joke, for instance residents of Waynesville,Missouri feel that renaming the local paper "The Uranus Examiner" is in poor taste. The town of Uranus is already well known for their quirky attractions like the fudge shop and a giant belt buckle (no,I'm not kidding). The paper was formerly called The Daily Guide but the name change is the brainchild of the new editor who wants to create a fun paper that will attract tourists. I'm not sure about that name attracting anyone, but it is good for a chuckle.
I have jury duty later today so I decided to rearrange my schedule to get this post done early.
