This year marks the 149th Kentucky Derby, aka run for the roses or hats, horses and hooch. It is a little surprising when you hear the hooch stats. Around 150,000 people are expected to attend this year, 120,000 mint juleps served, 522,000 cans of beer and 142,000 hot dogs consumed. The hats are a long standing tradition with 90% of the female spectators wearing hats priced from $250 to $1,000, and of course the field of horses change every year though many of the owners and trainers remain the same. With those stats in mind I wonder how they will make the 150th race stand out?
