The more I find out how some of our foods originated the more I wonder about the sanity of previous generations. When I was a kid my mother did a lot of baking,bread,cookies,pies,the whole bit but she still kept Graham Crackers on hand for snacks,now I am curious if she was a closet Grahamite. A Grahamite was a person who believed a vegetarian diet with limited dairy and bland starches would end lustful behavior. Sylvester Graham was a Presbyterian minister,one of seventeen children (any wonder he feared sexual activity!) who argued that masturbation and sex led to insanity and blindness...he died at age 57,they didn't mention how his eyesight was at the time of his death!
