Just When You Think

I remain amazed at the lengths people go to in order to be different...didn't they ever hear that we are all unique? Today's post is about a young woman who wore 15 copper rings around her neck for 5 years in order to pursue her dream of being "giraffe woman".  She finally realized how her self imposed adornment was causing her to miss out on many things in her life. She could no longer swim, run, driving was scary and she was becoming introverted and isolated (no kidding?). People would come up to her in the grocery store and her relationships only wanted to talk about the rings and not to bring her  home to meet the family. It took her 6 months to finalize the decision to have them removed. The procedure used a chemical to burn through the copper, took 15  minutes and was painful. Oh,did I mention an orthopedic surgeon said they hadn't made her neck any longer as her bones were already formed by the time she started wearing the rings.
