Robo Veggies

By 2017 a Japanese company is planning on opening the world's first "robot farm". (No,they aren't going to grow robots!) What they are going to grow is lettuce, mass quantities of lettuce, the robotics will increase production from 21,000 heads of lettuce a day to 50,000 heads a day. There are very few farmers left and the younger generations have no interest in farming so in an attempt to both generate interest in farming and to produce enough to feed the population they have developed a system where humans and machines work together. The humans plant the seeds the rest is pretty much on auto-pilot,the robots control the temperature,water,CO2,light and handle the planting of the seedlings to the harvesting of the mature heads of lettuce. Another bonus is the cost is less and the nutrition is greater. If it works as planned it would be a huge help in feeding the future masses.
