A young woman in Louisiana found an injured squirrel in her backyard,the squirrel had an infected eye and was dehydrated. She took it into her house and called the state wildlife agency but got no response due to the virus outbreak. She researched online how to care for the animal and began doing the care routine,she also started an instagram account for Willamina,or Willa for short, which was eventually noticed by someone from the Dept. of Wildlife who got in touch and placed Willamina with a wildlife rehab specialist who will complete her rehabilitation. When Willa's rehab is complete she will live on a private reserve. Although it is illegal to rehab wildlife without a permit the state is not pursuing any charges against the woman under the circumstances.
