Rent a Pineapple

Back in the late 14 hundreds Christopher Columbus brought pineapples back from the Caribbean to Spain where they quickly became the rage. Since their supply was limited they were considered more of a status symbol than just a fruit to be enjoyed and since most people couldn't afford to buy/own their own pineapple they were rented so they could be displayed like a work of art at social functions. The price for a single pineapple in the 1600s in today's standards was around $8,000 too much of an investment for the common folk but eventually (late 16 hundreds) they began growing them in pineries though they remained expensive due to their slow growing and low yield.
