Most invasive species break into areas new to them by hitching rides on cargo ships usually inside shipping containers and this bad boy is no exception. Anyone suffering from arachnophobia should quit reading here before I disclose the size of this intruder and how it is going to spread up the East Coast this year. The Joro spiders are as big as your palm and they are able to use their webs like parachutes to float up to 100 miles at a time. Their origin is Japan where they were named after a shape shifting creature,Jorogumo who transformed into a beautiful woman to lure men. The good news is these guys are no danger to humans in fact they can't even penetrate human skin and their venom is harmless. They are also useful in controlling destructive brown stink bugs and mosquitoes. Win,win!
