Though the color green is now associated with St. Patrick's Day that wasn't how it started out in fact the saint was always depicted in blue robes but around 1641 during a rebellion the blue flag with a harp was changed to have a green background which became mostly official by the late 18th century. In other odd happenings related to the holiday,in 2020 a San Francisco company offered $1,000,a corned beef/cabbage dinner for 4,a box of Lucky Charms, and a McDonald's gift card to by shamrock shakes to anyone willing to spend their day watching 10 Irish movies then writing what they learned about Irish culture. In 2014 Dublin airport took issue with people calling the holiday St. Patty's day since the shortened name should be Paddy.
