New Zealand is an ecology first country which is great, every country and person needs to do better and there is little time to spare but maybe their latest step is a bit harsh. They have proposed a methane tax for farmers of sheep and cattle (who outnumber people on the island nation) since the animals burps and farts produce a significant amount of methane. Cattle and sheep have complex digestive systems with multiple stomachs which causes their food to ferment. The government is suggesting feed additives that will prevent the gas. I don't remember if I did a post on it or not but orange peels have been found to solve the problem and cows love them, the only problem is shipping without spoilage but they are working on making the peels into pellets to solve that dilemma,so maybe they are forward thinking with their fart/burp tax. Isn't it nice when problems are solved by recycling things from nature?
