Today is Popcorn Day...kind of. Most people argue for January 19th as the official day,but the other camp firmly believes Popcorn Day coincides with Super Bowl Sunday. My personal opinion is why can't there be two dates to honor popcorn? It seems only right since popcorn has been around at least 4,000 years. The Aztecs used it both as a food and decoration,so if you think stringing popcorn is a new idea, you would be wrong! Remember the post about the George Washington Chicken McNugget? People see things in popped popcorn as well, but more importantly the name for the phenomenon of seeing images in things like popcorn is called pareidolia, there is a separate name for seeing things in clouds (I do that all of the time) and that word is nephelococcygia. Now you can say you learned something new today, unless of course you already knew those words!
