A knitting/heavy metal first took place yesterday in Finland,the Heavy Metal Knitting World Championships. Finland is known for founding many quirky events and has the highest number of heavy metal bands per capita which comes out to around 50 per 100,000. Some of the participants included Woolfumes,Bunny Bandit and 9 Inch Needles to name a few. The object of the competition is to knit while dancing to the music and I believe the knitter who manages to knit the most and show off their knitting skills to go with the music wins. This years winner was Giga Body Metal with a five person team featuring two Sumo wrestlers and a man dressed in a Japanese kimono.
