Bird Brains

Pet owners learn their pet's language and know when to back off or when to play but mostly people think of dogs and cats when they think of communicating with animals. But what about chickens? Chickens have traditionally been given a bad rap when it comes to intelligence though a recent study showed that even people who had never been around chickens could tell what the chickens different clucks meant. They found that the chickens expressed their happiness or distress clearly enough to be interpreted by 69% of the participants and that was without the visual clues of feather fluffing and body language. So, take that chicken dissers!
