Scottish...Right?

When you hear, see or think bagpipe most people automatically associate the instrument with Scotland, although a small percentage will claim it originated in Ireland. The real story of their origin lies in the Middle East, most likely Persia. The troubadours and the Romans are responsible for the instrument reaching popularity throughout Europe, historians even suggest Nero was a piper (did he play the bagpipe instead of the fiddle while Rome burned?). Another interesting tidbit...the plural of bagpipe is the same as the singular, bagpipe. Bagpipe music seems to be one of those sounds people either really like or really hate,I am in the like bagpipe camp!
