Today's post sounds like it should have happened in Florida but it actually occurred in Riverside,CA. Before I go on with the story I'd like to put my two cents worth in,not that I'm defending the thief but having two rigs stolen from the same mortuary in an hours time makes a person wonder about their security habits. A mortuary worker parked a van with a decedent in the back around 1:30 a.m. and went inside to get some paperwork leaving the keys in the van. When he came back out the van was gone so he called the police, about an hour later after the thief had discovered the body in the back he returned the first van and stole another. An employee tried to stop him but had to move to avoid being run over. The officer investigating the first theft took off after the second stolen van and followed it about 2 1/2 miles before it stopped. The man was arrested and charged with vehicular theft, assault with a deadly weapon and evading a police officer and is being held for $100,000 bail. Granted the guy stole the vehicles but they certainly made it easy for him to accomplish the theft.
