I was thinking how funny it was that a mayor in Mexico married a crocodile in the tradition of the Chontal Indians dating back to 1789 in order to bring good luck and prosperity to the fisherman. After a few moments reflection I remembered a local ceremony that recently took place honoring the Chinook salmon and realized that I was being a bigot by thinking the Mexican ceremony was any less sacred to their people. Are we all doomed to become bigots because of a certain bigoted leader always in our faces with his bigotry? I know I am going to make a conscious effort to avoid that particular slippery slope.
