This is a case of the cure being worse than the ailment which isn't that unusual. A 41 year old man in Russia (seems like it should be Florida) was found by police kneeling in a field with an eight inch knife embedded in his skull. When he was asked who did that to him he explained that he had done it himself as he was having trouble breathing through his nose and he thought if there was another hole in his head it would help him breath. The knife had went between the two hemispheres of the brain and experts were able to remove it without further damage though there is still a big risk of infection. I feel compelled to say "don't try this at home" since there seems to be a whole lot of stupid going around lately.
