Something To Chew On

Chewing on your coat can give a higher blood alcohol reading according to a lawyer in Pennsylvania. In an attempt to get his client off from a DUI the 47 year old woman's attorney suggested that some fabrics can give false results on the breath test and the officer did admit he asked her to stop nibbling at her coat. Naturally I was intrigued by something in a fabric that could give a reading of 0.151 so I checked for myself and found nothing about fabrics and blood alcohol readings,I did however find that both chewing gum and tobacco could give a higher reading. Perhaps that's what the lawyer meant to say! At any rate the judge said the field sobriety test and the fact the officer smelled alcohol on her were enough evidence to send it to trial.
