Springfield,MO decided to get their crap together on the pet waste problem. They started placing flags in grassy areas next to piles of poop left by pets. The flags have several clever sayings such as,"Is this your turd? Cuz that's absurd." City officials are hopeful it will help remind pet owners to clean up after their charges. The city was faced with 25 pounds of pet waste per week costing the public around $7,500 per year for cleanup. Just like human waste pet waste contains bacteria and other pollutants that end up in the water supply if not properly disposed of before the rains come. I'm hoping to find a follow up on this to see if the flags had the desired effect.
