Gold Leaf Trees

It turns out the phrase money doesn't grow on trees is wrong! Gold was first discovered in the leaves of eucalyptus trees in Australia after scientists examined the leaves with x-rays. The roots of the eucalyptus go down 30 feet or more and had been present in some of the existing gold mines so on closer examination they found a new way to search for gold and minerals without unnecessary digging. The gold itself is toxic to the trees but since they shed their leaves it doesn't harm them and yes it works in other parts of the world including Oregon. My only question is since koalas diet is almost exclusively eucalyptus are the cute marsupials a gold mine too?
