Acronyms are all around us, some we know what they stand for and others not so much. The letters YKK on over half of the zippers in the world? The letters stand for Yoshida Kogyo Kabushikikaisha which translates to Yoshida Manufacturing Shareholding Company, they use all their own materials to produce the zippers allowing them to deliver high quality at reasonable prices since 1934.
What about the letters OU found on some food items? The U is actually inside the O and it stands for "Orthodox Union Kosher" meaning the food was processed to meet Jewish dietary laws. OU-D means the food contains specially handled dairy, OU-P means an item is Kosher for Passover. The letters A K inside a circle or star are also used to mark Kosher foods.
