If You Go

As quirky festivals go Frozen Dead Guy Days has to be near the top of the list. Occurring annually in March about 17 miles west of Boulder, Colorado in a smaller town named Estes Park the 3 day festival includes hearse races, coffin races (with 6 pallbearers carrying a live person in a coffin through an obstacle course), a polar plunge, brain freeze contest (consuming frozen drinks the fastest), frozen fish toss, frozen turkey bowling, Day of the Dead costumes, music and a Blue Ball dance. All the festivities are dedicated to a real frozen dead guy who is kept frozen in a shed as he and his family wished, with the hope to someday be reanimated through the wonder of cryonics. Unfortunately his family fell on hard times and returned to Norway in 1993 so the town puts on the festival to continue his chilly care.
