Beaver Flavoring

Funny thing how today's post came about, I read a cartoon about beaver castor and for some reason I kept wondering if it was based on fact, as it turns out it was. What does that mean to you the consumer? It means that most of the artificially flavored vanilla, strawberry or raspberry products things like ice cream, gum, pudding and syrups are made from a scent gland located right by the beaver's anal gland. I guess there is nothing to worry about since it has been used for over 80 years and is recognized by the FDA as safe and non-toxic and those people have NEVER been wrong before! Next time you see castoreum on the list of ingredients you can thank a beaver.
