This particular hermit crab is a coconut crab (aka robber crab) so it has a tougher exoskeleton than other types of hermit crabs. Under normal circumstances hermit crabs usually move into shells discarded by other animals,but with the amount of litter taking over the beaches and oceans a person never knows what a crab might move into when it is time to molt. I know in the past I did a post about a hermit crab who moved into Legos that were left near it for that purpose,but the object of today's post and what it decided to inhabit is the stuff of nightmares...a doll's head.
