A few new things today,an albatross can live to be 70 and still hatch young,they mate for life but if they lose their mate they sometimes take another,they only hatch eggs every few years and only one at a time,the Midway Atoll Wildlife Refuge off the coast of Hawaii is the largest colony of albatross in the world,millions of birds return yearly to mate. Wisdom is the name of the at least 70 year old bird who just hatched another chick,it is estimated that she has hatched 30-36 chicks in her life,she has also outlived the person who banded her in 1956. It was nice to find a happy bird story to offset yesterday's sad bird story. Here's to Wisdom!
