Not the various songs by that title but actual living beings without hearts. I had no idea that since 2011 doctors have been working on machine to allow humans to live without a heart. After decades of work by surgeons to develop a machine that wouldn't break down,cause blood clots or infections 2 doctors came up with a device with whirling rotors to pump blood without a heartbeat. After removing the hearts of 38 calves and the device keeping them alive and normal other than for lacking a heartbeat they tried the first human heart replacement on a man with only hours to live and though it was a success with him his other organs had been damaged so he didn't live to a ripe old age. As it turns out animals don't need a heartbeat only the circulation the heart provides,the heartbeat itself is only to allow the heart a rest.
