Fair warning, if anyone gets sick at the thought of hair in their food quit reading right here. Six years ago a 23 year old woman was diagnosed with trichotillomania (a compulsion to pull out your hair) and trichophagia, the compulsion to eat hair. She became pregnant in 2014 and began having severe stomach pain and losing weight, the symptoms continued through her pregnancy and after delivery. Doctors were baffled as the tests for gall stones, stomach cancer and various other stomach related ailments were all negative. They finally performed an endoscopy and discovered to source of her discomfort,a giant hairball. The amount of hair was to much for the stomach acid to break down and had to be surgically removed. The final product weighed 14 pounds.
